The Wild Goose Ultra is one of the four races comprising Ultra Series WA. Ultra Series WA is a unique ultra running competition whereby runners earn points by running in four Ultra Series WA events:The points system is age graded off the current world listings for road races. The overall male and female winners of the Ultra Series WA Points competition win $2000 each, second place receives $1000, third position receives $500, fourth position receives $400 and fifth position receives $200.

QUALIFICATION

Age

Runners must be at least 18 years of age on the day of the race (except for kiddies races where kids must be at least 6 years of age with adult supervision).

 Experience

As this event will comprehensively be the most technical and have the most elevation of any annual ultras in Western Australia, there are some strict entry requirements that each runner for any of the 3 ultras must have as pre-requisite.

106k Entry Experience:

Must have run at least 1 Ultra marathon within the last 24 months

Or

Must attend one of the 3 reconnaissance runs of the 37k loop prior to the race. Dates to be confirmed.

53k and 45k Ultras 

At least 1 trail race of minimum half marathon distance

Or

Must attend one of the 3 reconnaissance runs of the 37k loop prior to the race. Dates to be confirmed.

AID STATIONS

There will be several checkpoints throughout the course.

Major Aid Stations (water/toilet/tailwind/coke/lollies/muffins) will be positioned at:

  • BIG G Aid Station (16.5k mark on 37k loop and 22.5k loop)
  • Valley Aid Station (8.5k mark on 16k loop)
  • Start/finish line at the village.

Moderate Aid Stations (water/tailwind/coke)

  • Noble Creek Hill Aid Station (approx. 28k mark on 37k loop)

Minor Aid Stations (water only):

  • Drummond’s Aid Station 10k mark of 18k hill climb.

PRE RACE BRIEFING

There will be a mandatory Pre-Race Briefing which must be attended by all 106k, Loose Goose and Duck’s Nuts runners under the big marquee at the Wild Goose Village at 7pm on Friday 29th.

A shorter pre-race briefing for all races will be held 15 minutes prior to the start of each race at the start line.

AWARDS & PRESENTATION

There will be a Presentation Ceremony where awards will be made to winners and place getters of the Wild Goose Chase events AND the Ultra Series WA Points competition.  This is to be held under the village mess at the start/finish line as soon as possible at the conclusion of the Sunday races.

Finishers’ medals will be presented to all official finishers on completion of their event at the finish line.  All entrants are encouraged to stay after their finish to support other entrants, and to attend the awards ceremony.

VOLUNTEERS

The Wild Goose Chase Running Festival relies on the help of a big team of volunteers to make the race happen. If you would like to help out at the Wild Goose Chase on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday 29 Jun – 1 Jul, please fill in the form on the website. All volunteers receive an early bird and guaranteed entry into the Wild Goose Chase Running Festival for the following year.
